When you use our calculation tools, your birth details are sent securely to our server to compute your chart and are immediately discarded. We never store personal data, we do not sell your data, and no account is ever required. Last updated: May 14, 2026.

Introduction

NAKSHATRA is a free Vedic astrology web platform providing tools for birth charts, panchang, muhurat timings, and related Jyotish calculations. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle any information you provide while using the site. NAKSHATRA is an independent platform operated in India.

Data Categories We Process

To perform astrological calculations, you may enter the following information:

(a) Full name — used solely to label the generated chart display
(b) Date of birth in DD/MM/YYYY format — used to calculate planetary positions
(c) Time of birth in HH:MM format — used to compute the Ascendant and house positions
(d) City of birth and its geographic coordinates (latitude, longitude, timezone) — used to resolve the local birth time to UTC for astronomical computation

We do not collect government ID numbers, financial information, biometric data, or any other sensitive personal data. No account creation is required.

How We Process Data

Your birth details are transmitted over HTTPS to our server, where planetary positions are computed using Swiss Ephemeris. The computation result is returned to your browser and your input is immediately discarded — no birth data is written to any database or log.

Local storage: Some chart context may be stored in your own browser (for example, sessionStorage or localStorage) to improve continuity between tools during your session. You can clear this at any time from browser settings.

Data is not used for advertising, profiling, or sold to any third party.

Device Storage

Some pages use your browser's sessionStorage to temporarily store chart results for faster display during the same session. The Muhurat Finder may store your last selected place in localStorage to prefill it on your next visit. You can clear both at any time through your browser settings.

Third-Party Services

We use Google Fonts to load typography used on the site. When fonts are loaded, your browser may connect to Google’s servers to fetch font files.

Cross-border transfers: When your browser loads Google Fonts from Google servers, your IP address and standard request metadata may be transferred outside India. By proceeding with the site after viewing this notice, you acknowledge this transfer. We are evaluating self-hosting fonts to eliminate this transfer.

If analytics is enabled at launch, we will request your consent before loading any analytics scripts. Analytics will not run unless you explicitly consent.

Our servers may log standard technical request data (for example, IP address, user agent, and request path) for security, abuse prevention, and rate limiting. We do not use these logs to identify you personally.

Data Retention

We do not retain birth data entered into chart forms. Your birth details are discarded immediately after the chart computation completes. No birth data is stored in our databases.

What We Store and What We Do Not Store

We store: server access logs (retained for 30 days for security purposes), error logs (retained for 7 days). We do not store: birth details, chart results, or any personally identifiable information submitted through our tools.

Data Deletion & Your Rights

You can clear locally stored chart data directly from your browser at any time. For privacy concerns or requests, email support@ournakshatra.com.

To request deletion of any data we may hold, email support@ournakshatra.com. We will confirm deletion within 7 days.

Third-Party Services List

We use the following third-party services: Swiss Ephemeris (open source, no data sharing), Google Fonts (font delivery only), Google AdSense (advertising, subject to Google's privacy policy).
